El Maestro, JUAN BENITES REYES, is the CREATOR of the Marinera Trujillana, which it is a northern marinera. This marinera has been born in Trujillo, but which it is different from the other northern marineras already known.

His inspiration let him participate in the Concurso Nacional de Marinera, organized every year by the CLUB LIBERTAD, Trujillian tradition. It was in 1981, when he began to compose  marineras, but he wanted a different kind.
