Puka Polleracha
This carnavalito is included in the Andean festivities of Peru.
It is well known worldwide. It is also known as "Carnaval de
Apurímac", from the Apurimac Departament, located in the
south east of Peru.

Carnaval de Cajamarca
The annual festivities in Cajamarca (an Andean city on the north
of Peru) are always enhanced by this beautiful and popular melody.
The "Coplas" are also part of the celebrations including the famous
"Matarina". Celendin is the city attributed to the birth of the
carnaval in Cajamarca. The majority of the "carnavales" are just
dances without singing. However, there some lyrics such as "Palo
Cilulo" that are present in the festivities.

Canción de la Pesebrera
(The Manger's song)
Today in the manger, a King has been born... The angels with their
quenas and harps have formed an orchestra. A festive Christmas carol
based on the lyrics of Miriam Boza Olivari, "Mimi",
and the music and arrangements of "grindio".

El Humahuaqueño
This carnavalito belongs to the Argentinian composer
Edmundo Zaldivar. There is a
celebration every January in the town of Humahuaca (northwest of
Argentina) called El TANTANACUY where this melody is the centerpiece
of the celebrations.

Carnaval de Arequipa
This carnaval was composed by
Benigno Ballón Farfán. This carnaval is well known
and traditional in the region of Arequipa, the White City, located
in the south east of Peru. This carnaval refers to the ancient
rituals associated with the celebration of the plentiful harvest of
Mother Earth.
