The "Lady Bugs" Youth Soccer Team
played an awesome game against the Kicking Kittens, and continues to be undefeated in this
soccer season. The team effort was rewarded with a well deserved 3- 0 win. |

This game was played at Dover Middle School on Saturday, November 06,
1999. It started at 10:15 am in a moderate sunny and windy morning
In the first quarter, the "Lady Bugs" team dominated completely.
At the fourth minute Taylour took the ball in the left side of the
Kittens' field and crossed to the right by dribbling 2 players, with a right shot scored
the first goal for the "Lady
Bugs". In
the eighth minute, Lisa received the ball from a throw in and with
persistence fought the ball after encountering a Kittens' player. Lisa then continue
toward the Kittens end field and scored the second goal. This quarter ended with a "Lady Bugs" early win of 2 - 0. Vanessa
played goalie in this quarter without any effort at all. Bethany and Wendy defended really
well. Sarah and Corina contained the Kittens' midfield.
In the second quarter, the passing improved in the "Lady Bugs" team. Short passes were made at midfield. Jessica
showed great skills as defender, complemented by Bethany, not allowing the Kittens'
players to come near the "Lady Bugs"
goalie. Sarah played goalie in this quarter and only once she had the chance to come in
contact with the ball. Rebecca and Vanessa played midfield defending and attacking
constantly, showing a great team effort. Lisa and Taylour as forwards tried to
increase the scoring. Bethany, Rebecca and Corina were really close to score a goal.
In the third quarter, Vanessa was the goalie with
her characteristic style, always alert and organizing her defense. Players from both teams
showed the willingness to try their best. Jessica continued to defend her area, Wendy and
Rebecca showed enthusiasm and character controlling the Kittens attack. Corina run after
the ball with great energy. Sarah and Taylour continued to charge trying to score more
goals.
During the fourth quarter, Sarah was the goalie for the "Lady Bugs". At the middle of
this quarter, Lisa obtained the ball from a "drop-ball" (shared
with a Kittens' player) and with fast reaction kicked the ball with a straight shot
scoring the last goal of the game. Lisa and Rebecca played forwards, Bethany and Wendy
defended the "Lady Bugs"
area, Corina and Vanessa played midfield. Near the end of this quarter, Lisa passed the
ball to Bethany in the middle of the Kittens' end zone, Bethany kicked the ball rapidly
surprising the Kittens' defenders and goalie, however, the ball passed near the left post.
The players alternated positions within the game. Vanessa and Sarah were the goalies
for this game. Bethany, Wendy, and Jessica played defense. The midfield was composed by
Sarah, Rebecca, Vanessa and Corina. Lisa, Rebecca, Sarah and Taylour played forwards in
this game.
The "Lady Bugs" missed Gigi, who
was sick and had to stay home. Our players dedicated this game to Gigi. Some players
called Gigi after the game wishing her a prompt recovery.
In the afternoon, the "Lady Bugs"
players and parents gathered at the home of Bethany Serrano, to celebrate her birthday
(8th). Parents and players had a great time playing games and singing the "Lady Bugs" victory song: "We are the Champions" from the English group
