Lady Bugs 5 - Lions 1

The "Lady Bugs" U-10 Girls Soccer Team remains Undefeated in the 2001 soccer season. They played a great game against The Lions. This game was played on November 03, 2001, at noon on a warm Saturday, Octo Inn Soccer Complex. We missed Lindsay in this game.

The "Lady Bugs" players completely dominated this game. It looked like there was only one team in possession of the ball. The "Lady Bugs" team had a strong defense, a solid midfield and relentless strikers who time after time, kept shooting at goal. Less than one minute into the game, Erin took a beautiful shot that went over the cross bar, At the minute and a half, Bethany crossed the ball to Erin, who took another shot at goal. We can keep describing every single minute in which the "Lady Bugs" players Taylour, Sarah D, Bethany, Kellie kept shooting at goal. 

Our defense was composed by Linette, Rebecca, Casey and Briana who once again shut down the Lions attack. Wendy played another awesome game as goalie. Briana tackled the ball and kept sending the ball forward. Linette was secure controlling the middle of the defense, Rebecca did not allow the Lions forward to get the ball, she had a great anticipation and total control of the right wing of the "Lady Bugs" defense. Casey alternated positions with Rebecca with confidence and even ventured to be part of the attack.

The midfield was composed by Taylour, Kellie, Sarah D, Vanessa, Corina and Sarah P. The "Lady Bugs" midfielder were the owners of the ball, they put pressure on the Lions players and kept them far away from Wendy's goal box. Kellie, Sarah D, Vanessa, Corina and Sarah P continued firing shots at foal. Bethany and Erin started in the "Lady Bugs" frontal attack. Corina, Rebecca and Vanessa also alternated in the forward line.

It took about 12 minutes for the "Lady Bugs" to scored their first goal. Bethany received the ball from a throw-in at the left side of the field, run forward dribbling her defender and took a shot across from left to right beating the Lions' goalie. At the 17 minute, Bethany scored another goal for the "Lady Bugs" after dribbling on the left side of the field. This was Bethany's second personal goal in this game. Previous to this second goal, Erin took a shot at goal, Bethany did a follow up and the ball bounced off the goal post.

The third goal was an easy one. Vanessa took a corner kick, passing the ball to Corina who saw Taylour open at the middle of the penalty area. Corina passed the ball to Taylour, who kicked the ball straight to the Lions goal, scoring a nice goal and increasing the result to 3 - 0. For the second half, some changes were made in the "Lady Bugs" lineup. Several shots at goal were made by the "Lady Bugs" players. However, a Lions player made a fast breakaway on the right side of the field, took a shot at goal which slowly cross the line, scoring the lonesome goal for the Lions. But, the "Lady Bugs" attack became more intense, as a result, Erin retrieved the ball on the right side of the field and fired a strong shot which passed 3 Lions defenders, scoring the fourth goal for the "Lady Bugs".

The "Lady Bugs" are characterized to pursue in the attack until the game is over. Near the end of the game Sarah P fought the ball at the border of the "Lady Bugs" penalty area, got the ball and passed it to Bethany who immediately took a long pass to Erin. Erin trapped the ball and dribble a defender facing the Lions goalie. Erin took a shot to the right side of the goalie scoring the fifth goal for the "Lady Bugs" and her second personal goal of the game. Our players once again played an awesome game, showing respect to the officials, following the laws and honoring the game.
