Lady Bugs 1 - Twisters 1

The "Lady Bugs" U-10 Girls Soccer Team started the 2001 season with a moral victory against The Twisters. The soccer season started on September 08, 2001. The first game was played on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, Octo Inn Soccer Complex at 2:30 pm. A doubtful offside call made by a young referee prevented The "Lady Bugs" team to start this season with a victory.

Wendy played and awesome game as goalie. She saved good shots from the Twisters who found a well positioned goalie. Briana played her first real game in an organized league. She did not allow the ball to cross her right defending side of the field. Linette was in charge of the defense and pushing toward the Twisters field. Rebecca played her best game defending the left zone. Casey replaced Rebecca in the second half doing a great job controlling the Twisters attack.

The first half consisted on a balanced shift of ball movement in both sides of the field. The "Lady Bugs" midfield controlled the flow of the game, with Kellie, Taylour, Sarah P, Lindsay, Corina, Vanessa and Sarah D taking possession of the ball and passing it to each other and onto the forwards. Beth and Erin took several shots at goal testing the Twisters goalie. Corina made a nice dribble near the end of the first half. Sarah P played aggressively in spite of her size. Around the 20th minute, a series of bouncing balls near the "Lady Bugs" penalty area ended up near a Twister forward who took a shot. The shot was blocked by Wendy, however, it escaped her and slowly enter the goal box.
